Governor Marañon: Keep tight watch on fifth district race
Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. is asking the public to keep a close eye on the fifth legislative district on Election Day.
“Let us make sure the elections will be peaceful, honest and credible. That is the basic essence of democracy, to have a very clean election,” Marañon Jr. said in The Visayan Daily Star report.
The outgoing governor also encouraged candidates to ensure clean and honest elections tomorrow, May 13.
The Commission on Elections earlier placed Moises Padilla under Comelec control after the series of killings involving city officials.
In his recent visit to the town, President Rodrigo Duterte assured Vice Mayor Ella Garcia-Yulo of justice for the death of her brother and nephew who were both killed in an ambush.
