Governor Marañon endorses Batapa-Sigue for Bacolod mayor
Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. said he is supporting the candidacy of former councilor Jocelle Batapa-Sigue for mayor of Bacolod City in the 2019 polls.
Marañon made the announcement at the Christmas party of provincial government employees at the Capitol Lagoon Park on Saturday.
According to Visayan Daily Star, the politiko introduced Batapa-Sigue as the next mayor of Bacolod and invited her to the stage where he raised her hand in support.
Batapa-Sigue, who celebrated her birthday yesterday, in response said, “This is my best birthday gift ever. Thank God. I am truly humbled and honored.”
The ex-councilor, who also ran for Congress in 2010 but lost, is a volunteer ICT consultant of the Negros Occidental provincial government.
She will fight incumbent mayor Evelio Leonardia and and Ray Carmona in the 2019 mayoral race.
