Governor Marañon creates task force to probe Sagay massacre
Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. has created a special task force to look into the killing of nine sugarcane workers in Sagay City.
This will produce the “real truth” and give closure to the victims’ families, said Marañon.
“Special Task Force Hustisya” will be composed of members of the Dioceses of San Carlos and Bacolod City, the Provincial Public Attorney’s Office, the Provincial Agrarian Reform Office, the National Bureau of Investigation, Department of Justice, and the Department of Agrarian Reform.
“Our hearts bleed for such a very unfortunate incident… We are in solidarity with the families of the victims to demand justice with urgency and decisiveness,” the politiko said in a Visayan Daily Star article.
“I will resolutely work that justice will be served and no amount of intimidation of threat can prevent me from bringing before the bar of justice those who are responsible and involved in Sagay 9 incident,” he added.
