Gov Lacson on barangay polls postponement: I’m not really surprised
The approval of a postponement of the upcoming barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections did not surprise Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson.
“I’m not really surprised and it is just giving barangay officials longer time to serve their respective communities,” said Lacson.
According to him, he already expected the delay as several officials are already talking about the proposal. (https://bit.ly/2Cy0abD)
The poll postponement should serve as an inspiration for them to serve longer, he added.
Last week, the House of Representatives approved House Bill No. 4933, seeking to postpone the barangay and SK polls from May 2020 to December 5, 2022.
A total of 194 lawmakers approved the measure while six voted against it.
