Garin prohibits sports activities in San Joaquin amid rising COVID cases
Mayor Ninfa Garin of San Joaquin, Iloilo has temporarily suspended sports activities in her town’s 85 barangays due to an increase in Covid-19 cases.
“Recent developments show that there are clustering of Covid-19 cases in the municipality, hence, putting the whole populace under threat of contamination,” said Garin.

The local government allowed sports activities in barangays in June due to dwindling infections.
The cancellation of sports activities aim to stop Covid-19 from further spreading, the mayor also said.
People can catch Covid-19 from others who have the virus. The disease can spread from person to person through small droplets from the nose or mouth which are spread when a person with Covid-19 coughs or exhales.
The most common symptoms of Covid-19 are fever, tiredness, and dry cough.
