Funds allotted for columbarium, tomb repairs in Iloilo City
The Iloilo City Government will set aside P6 million for the creation of a columbarium and new burial vaults at the Tanza cemetery and the Iloilo City Public Cemetery, Mayor Jerry Treñas said.
It is “high time” for the city to have its own columbarium and a crematorium, said Treñas citing Regulation Ordinance 2013-238.
The local ordinance seeks for the establishment of a crematorium, columbarium and multipurpose halls in cemeteries. (https://bit.ly/3CBSgeR)
According to the mayor, the construction of new apartment-type tombs at the Tanza cemetery would be prioritized.
After the construction of new tombs, the columbarium will follow.
The new facility aims to decongest the Tanza cemetery, which has over 10,000 tombs.
