From allies to rivals: Jerry Treñas to go against Joe Espinosa as Iloilo mayor
These Liberal Party allies are set to go head-to-head by 2019.
Congressman Jerry Treñas is marking his territory as early as now, as he plans to return to the Iloilo City Hall after three terms in Batasan.
The politiko is preparing to make a comeback as city mayor, even if it means that he has to battle it out with incumbent Mayor Jose Espinosa III.
Treñas is apparently sporting a huge lead against Espinosa, according to a survey published by Panay News. Nearly two-thirds of voters are likely to choose Treñas, who has been their mayor before.
“Once again, this does not mean that we will be complacent because we know that we have more supporters. Instead, this inspires us even more to keep doing better for the people, for Iloilo City, because we know that it’s the only way we can give back to you your unwavering support,” Treñas said.
