Free ‘pandesal’ for Iloilo City residents
Beginning April 6 until April 21, residents of Iloilo City will be treated to free I(bread roll).
Three companies are joining forces to produce the popular bread so no one would go hungry while the city is under an enhanced community quarantine to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
Around 43,000 pieces of pandesal would be baked and distributed daily, said Mayor Jerry Treñas. (https://bit.ly/2JKCaW9)
The Uygongco Flour Mill volunteered to provide flour while the Carlos Uy Corp. would supply the other needed ingredients. Angelina Bakeshop, on one hand, would bake the pandesal. The city government would distribute the bread.
Treñas lauded the three home-grown companies for their “sense of bayanihan.”
“They are doing this for the love of Iloilo City,” he added.
The enhanced community quarantine will end on April 14 unless lifted earlier or extended.
