Former maritime cop shot dead in Silay City
A former maritime police officer was gunned down in an ambush perpetrated by motorcycle-riding assailants in Silay City in Negros Occidental on Wednesday.
Jose Lindy Chan, 63, a member of the PNP Maritime Command based in Cadiz City, was talking to a friend when he was shot in Barangay 4 in Silay City.

Chan made headlines in 2008 after filing graft charges against a former mayor in Silay City and 26 other city hall employees for an P18-million computerization project.
Police recovered a helmet, jacket, and a bonnet likely used by the attackers, at an adjacent subdivision.
Investigators are eyeing grudge related to the victim’s business as the possible motive. Investigation also showed the victm received threats before Wednesday’s attack.
