Ferrer to PDEA, PNP: Double efforts vs illegal drugs

Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer of Negros Occidental province urged the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) to double their efforts to counter the country’s illegal drug problem.

“They need to strategize more and double their efforts,” said Ferrer, adding that they should prevent illegal drugs in coming into the province.

Ferrer cited reports that PDEA and the PNP continue to seize big volumes of illegal drugs in the city and in some localities in the province. (

“I think there is a need for stricter monitoring of the ports,” he added.

Ferrer refuted reports that the province and Bacolod City are the sources of illegal drugs.

“I don’t think that is true because there is no confirmed factory here,” he said.
