Duterte meeting WV local execs in Manila today
Local officials in Western Visayas are scheduled to meet President Rodrigo Duterte today at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City together with other chief executives across the country.
Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) regional director Ariel Iglesia said the meeting’s agenda may be about the preparations of local government units (LGUs) regarding the novel coronavirus.
“No proxy shall be allowed to represent any local chief executive in the meeting,” read part of DILG Sec. Eduardo Año’s letter to the LGUs coursed through the DILG regional office. (https://bit.ly/39k4Pfv)
Local chief executives who could not attend the meeting must submit a written justification to the DILG through the Bureau of Local Government Supervision, said Iglesia.
Western Visayas has 16 city mayors, 117 municipal mayors, and six governors.
Last week, the DILG advised LGUs to create their respective coronavirus task forces “to be on a state of preparedness and take all pro-active steps” against the virus.
The task forces were tasked to implement DOH protocols and guidelines and extend full cooperation to the DOH and other government agencies.
