Dumaguete mayor backs national ID system
Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo expressed support for the implementation of a national identification (ID) system in the country.
Last year, President Rodrigo Duterte signed Republic Act 11055 that creates a single national ID system for all Filipinos.
During a House oversight committee hearing on the measure in the city recently, Remollo said the national ID should “preferably be valid for the next 10 years similar to that of passports.”
It should also include the ID holder’s blood type so it will be “useful during a medical emergency,” he added.
The national ID card provides a valid proof of identity, which aims to simplify public and private transactions.
