Drug personalities in Cebu have reportedly put up a reward money for anybody who can kill a policeman in the province.
Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) Director, Senior Supt. Manuel Abrugena said Wednesday they have received raw information that members of a drug syndicate have chipped in to raise the bounty.
Abrugena said drug lords would give out P20,000 for every killed policeman according to the information gathered by the intelligence community.
The CPPO chief said they received the information following their successive operations especially in Talisay City, where the illegal drugs trade continues to thrive.
He, however, said they are still validating the report and called on his men to continue doing their job.
The CPPO has been conducting anti-drug operations in the entir province without let-up and drug traders want to retaliate since their business has been greatly affected, Abrugena said.
Due to the CPPO’s intensified anti-drug campaign, several police officers have also received death threats from unknown sources.
“I have advised the men and women of the CPPO not to be affected by the threats and remain vigilant. Threats are part of their job,” Abrugena said.
He said they were also looking into reports that some elected officials of Talisay Citywere receiving protection money from drug lords.
Abrugena said they would look into this report as the illegal drugs trade is still rampant in the said city, particularly in Barangay Tangke, despite their continuous all-out operations in the area. (PNA)
