Drug dealers’ loss, gambling operators’ gain: Illegal gambling up in Negros
The loss of illegal drug dealers may be the gain of illegal gambling operators in Negros Occidental province, a Bacolod-based news site reported.
Illegal gambling operators piggybacking on Small Town Lottery are exploiting police’s focus against drugs to expand their trade, Visayan Daily Star reported.
Citing information it gathered, it said bookies are run by different managers and operators, with draws made thrice a day.
Also, it said police learned of the continued operation of STL bookies with the recent arrest of six suspects in San Carlos and Himamaylan cities.
Investigation showed the bookies also collect bets for STL to legitimize their activities, while bookies’ results are based on STL draws.
