Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar has given his commitment to help Bacolod City draw up a comprehensive master plan for flood management.

Visayan Daily Star quoted Bacolod Rep. Greg Gasataya as saying Villar made the commitment after meeting with him.

He voiced hopes the master plan would be completed before end-2016.

During the meeting, Gasataya said he presented the flooding situation in the city following heavy rain last August 27.

He said he informed Villar the DPWH in Bacolod already has a master plan for rivers like Lupit and Mandalagan, Banago, and the Mambuloc Creek.
