DOT to strictly impose cap on Boracay visitors
To maintain the island’s carrying capacity, only 6,405 visitors will be allowed to enter Boracay daily, the Department of Tourism (DOT) said.
Secretary Bernadette Puyat said limiting Boracay tourists will ensure Boracay’s sustainable tourism.
The cap on tourist arrivals to the island resort will be strictly followed once it opens on October 26, said Puyat.
“We have to enforce the carrying capacity because if we don’t, Boracay will return to what it was before,” she said. “We want it to be sustainable and to be always open.”
DOT said they will also limit the number of flights to Kalibo and Caticlan to ensure the cap is met.
