DOT announces moratorium on accreditation for Boracay establishments
The Department of Tourism has announced a moratorium on applications for hotels, restaurants and other establishments in Boracay.
The move comes amid The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) clean-up campaign in the world-famous island.
DOT Regional Director Helen Catalbas said establishments will not be given DOT accreditation until they are compliant of environmental laws.
But Catalbas said Boracay remains open to tourists.
“It is business as usual in Boracay Island. Tourist traffic remains relatively similar or heavier,” she said.#
