Don’t bring pork into Negros, Gov tells travellers
To prevent the spread of deadly African swine fever (ASF), Governor Jose Lacson asked travellers not to bring pork products into Negros Occidental.
Lacson made the appeal after blood samples from infected hogs in Luzon sent to the United Kingdom were confirmed positive for ASF.
“We have to be alert, we are asking our Negrenses, especially if they have relatives coming home from Manila or even out of the country, please do not bring any pork in,” according to him. (http://www.visayandailystar.com/2019/September/11/topstory3.htm)
“Let’s buy local pork”, he said, noting that the province is the number one producer of backyard swine in the country.
if supply is not enough and pork prices go up, Lacson said consumers can always shift to fish and chicken.
