Palace clears Michael Diño in viral chopper landing video: Kasalanan ng piloto!
CEBU CITY — Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Michael Lloyd Dino on Wednesday denied he made a helicopter land at the Philsports Arena known also as Ultra Stadium just to take a pee.
The spokesperson of the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV), Assistant Secretary Anthony Gerard Gonzales, said in a statement that Dino “took his only chance to go to the restroom before their onward destination” while waiting for others to board the helicopter.
This came after a photo of Dino alighting the helicopter went viral on social media on Tuesday. A certain Newsph.org, claimed on its Facebook post that the helicopter disturbed a “DepEd event” in the stadium.
In a separate interview, Gonzales told the Philippine News Agency that the Department of Education (DepEd) confirmed to him that there was no DepEd-sanctioned event when the helicopter arrived.
According to Gonzales, the helicopter was picking up someone in the stadium.
“He had no way of knowing that there was any on-going event in Ultra. He was just told that the chopper will pick up other passengers,” Gonzales claimed. “It’s a call of nature that he can hold on to but there was a chance when the chopper landed.”
The assistant secretary of OPAV said Dino was on his way to Batangas to lead the launching of Malasakit Center there — the 20th since President Rodrigo Duterte inaugurated the pilot establishment at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in this city.
“OPAV is the conduit office in rolling out the Malasakit Center nationwide. That’s why Dino attended the launching,” he explained.
The day before the Batangas launching, he said, Dino also graced the opening of the 19th Malasakit Center at the Lung Center in Quezon City. (PNA)
