Dengue cases in Bacolod up by 121%

There was a 121 percent increase in the number of cases of dengue fever in Bacolod City in the first five weeks of 2019, according to the City Health Office (CHO).

CHO Environment Sanitation Division head Grace Tan said a total of 201 cases, including one death, were recorded between January 1 and February 5.

Only 91 cases were tallied during the same period last year.

“We are still advocating for ‘search and destroy’ of all probable mosquito breeding and nesting places both in and out of houses, buildings and other areas,” said Tan.

The health official reminded the public to participate in the dengue prevention campaign. “Don’t wait for the local government or the City Health Office to go to you,” she also said.
