Dela Fuente admits failure to control Suroy-Suroy crowd
Madridejos Mayor Salvador Dela Fuente admitted they were unable to control the crowd during the second stop of Suroy-Suroy Sugbo in Bantayan, Cebu held last November 27.
The event recently received criticism on social media after residents were seen violating social distancing protocols.
Organizers and authorities said they were not able to control the influx of the people at Kota Park. (https://bit.ly/3o6uG1W)
Dela Fuente said they are monitoring people who attended the gathering for symptoms related to the coronavirus disease.
Top officials present during the event were Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Secretary Michael Dino, and some
some candidates of Miss Universe Philippines 2020.
In his message to the Lawisanons, Roque told the crowd to follow health protocols as he saw the people ignoring social distancing.
“Anong isusuot? Masks. Anong dapat gawin? Hugas. At pangatlo, ang hindi natin nasusunod ngayon, iwas. Di ba? Pero huwag n’yo lang tatanggalin ang mga masks niyo, okay na yan dahil open air naman tayo,” the secretary added.
