Governor-elect Arthur Defensor Jr. of Iloilo province shrugged off the election protest filed against him by defeated gubernatorial candidate Ferjenel Biron.

Defensor, who won against Biron by 87,687 votes in the May 13 elections, said election results and pre-election surveys were two different things.

In a Panay News article, the outgoing representative of Iloilo’s 3rd district pointed out that surveyed voters could make up their minds on Election Day.

“Surveys are not valid grounds for election protests. On that ground alone, the election protest will not progress,” the abogado said.

On allegations of irregularities pertaining to voter’s receipts, Defensor said the concerned voters should have promptly reported such incidents to the election inspectors.
