Defensor mulls over resumption of int’l flights
Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. is open to allowing international flights to resume operations at the Iloilo Airport in Cabatuan town.
“But, we need to sort things out. There will be consequences,” according to Defensor Jr.
Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, the airport served international flights to destinations such as Hong Kong and Singapore. (https://bit.ly/3xaHMTc)
“If we resume international flights, security protocols need to be established,” he added.
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines recently said they were waiting for the go-signal from the governor to resume catering to international flights.
Defensor said he would coordinate first with the Department of Health and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration regarding the protocols for returning overseas workers.
Last Friday, the national government announced it would no longer require a Covid-19 pre-departure test for incoming passengers who are fully vaccinated and had received at least one booster shot.
