Defensor eyes floating clinic in northern Iloilo

Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. is planning to operate a floating clinic to make healthcare accessible to remote communities in the northern portion of the province.

Several communities, particularly far-flung island barangays, do not have access to health services, said Defensor.

He, however, said this endeavor requires substantial funding. (

The Provincial Civil Defense Operation Center would be managing the floating clinic should it materialize, the governor said.

The provincial government also intended to procure a sea ambulance to be handled by the Iloilo Provincial Bantay Dagat Task Force.

Eleven municipalities – Ajuy, Balasan, Barotac Viejo, Batad, Carles, Concepcion, Estancia, Lemery, San Dionisio, San Rafael, and Sara – in northern Iloilo have island barangays.
