Defective warrants free 2 Gisela kidnapy-slay suspects
Two suspects allegedly involved in kidnap-slay of Bien Unido, Bohol Mayor Gisela Boniel were released due to defective warrant of arrest.
“I am happy to inform you that my clients Lobo Boniel and Bryan Sayson who were unlawfully arrested and detained for almost 24 hours on the basis of a warrant that did not name them by elements of PNP have been released,” Inocencio Dela Cerna, lawyer of the two suspects, said.
Sayson manages the Double Barrier Reef Dive Cam, the place where Gisela was last seen alive. Lobo, meanwhile, owns the boat allegedly used to carry the slain body of Gisela.
“I think the PNP has realized its most grievous mistake. Nevertheless, we are still exploring the possibilities of filing the appropriate charges for the blatant violation of our client’s constitutional rights,” added Dela Cerna.
Gisela was allegedly abducted and killed by her husband Bohol Provincial Board Member Niño Rey Boniel on June 7.
Gisela’s body was believed to be dumped in the waters between the waters of Cebu and Bohol.
Niño Rey is facing parricide charge before a Cebu regional trial court.
He was also charged with kidnapping and serious illegal detention for allegedly abducting Gisela’s best friend, Angela Leyson and her son.
Niño Rey entered not guilty plea in the kidnapping and serious illegal detention raps.
