‘Davao Boy’ is Iloilo City’s next police director

Starting Monday, Feb. 17, the Iloilo City police will be headed by an officer who served in the Davao Region.

P/Col. Eric Dampal has been assigned to the top ICPO post by the Philippine National Police headquarters.

Western Visayas police chief P/Brig. Gen. Rene Pamuspusan said Dampal replaces P/Col. Martin Defensor Jr., who was promoted as Police Regional Office 6 chief of staff (https://dailyguardian.com.ph/davao-boy-is-iloilo-citys-next-police-director/).

Dampal is a member of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Class 1992. He’s a native of Bukidnon, where PNP chief P/Gen. Archie Francisco Gamboa also hails from.

Before his new assignment, Dampal headed the Compostela Valley Police Provincial Office and in Police Regional Office 11 (Davao Region).

He also used to lead the Regional Training Center and the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division (RIDMD) in PRO-11.

He once headed the Men Opposed to Violence Everywhere (MOVE) PNP.
