Dahil fire-prevention month! Bacolod conducts barangay training vs fire
The Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office recently organized a training for community fire preparedness in the city’s 61 barangays.
DRRMO cluster head Executive Assistant Jose Maria Vargas said the capability-building training is in observance of March as Fire Prevention Month.
Vargas said the training is a pro-active approach in building the disaster-resiliency of the community by promoting among the residents immediate response through self-help in order to minimize, if not prevent, the damaging effects of fire incidents.
It is done in partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection Bacolod and Liga ng mga Barangay.
CDRRMO administrative officer Bernadeth Montelibano said they expect to gather 740 participants from community volunteers, and barangay officials and staff.
Included in the training are:
– Chemistry of Fire
– How to Use A Fire Extinguisher
– How to Put Off Fire from LPG
– Fire Preparedness Tips
– Basic First-Aid
