Dadivas, Capiz millers, traders meet

POLITIKO - The bible of Philippine Politics.
Mayor Ronnie Dadivas met with rice millers, traders, wholesalers, and retailers from Roxas City and Capiz to discuss the city’s food security program.
This comes after the “Bugas para sa taga Roxas” or free rice program for the poor was halted after the National Food Authority (NFA) stopped supplying rice.
Dadivas met with Arthur Young of Agro Tradex Rice Mill, Jona Delfin of LOM Marketing, Onisimo Gomez of Gomez Rice Mill and rice wholesalers and retailers of Teodoro Arcenas Trade Center. (https://bit.ly/3Kp8eQh)
The mayor asked if they could help sustain the program’s rice supply. He also gave the group the opportunity to participate in the bidding of a confederation.
The city government originally sourced rice from the NFA for the “Bugas Para sa taga-Roxas Food Security Program”.
It began during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic for 32,000 affected families.
However, the city government was informed last week that the NFA would no longer release rice for Roxas City and other local government units, except for disaster relief.
