Councilors seek declaration of Sum-ag River as tourist spot

The Bacolod City Council approved on first reading an ordinance establishing the Sum-ag River as a tourist destination.

The proposed measure also aims to create a committee for its maintenance and preservation.

Councilors Jason Isidro Villarosa and Jude Thaddeus Sayson co-authored the said ordinance. (

Meanwhile, the city council has asked Mayor Albee Benitez to convene the Christmas Festival of Lights Committee, as per City Ordinance No. (CO) 868, series of 2018.

The resolution authored by Villarosa, chairperson of the Committee on Tourism, said the CO, approved in 2018, declares the first Saturday of December as an annual celebration of Christmas Festival of Lights in Bacolod City.

The purpose of the ordinance is to promote the Christmas spirit and to keep and maintain certain historical and culturally significant traditions and values.
