Cortes seeks consultation on infra projects

POLITIKO - The bible of Philippine Politics.
Before the Department of Public Works and Highways implements its own infrastructure projects in Mandaue City, Mayor Jonas Cortes wants a consultation with the city.
“We have our existing plans for the city. We have our own City Planning Office and we have our own City Development Council… It is better to have a consultation prior to the implementation,” said Cortes.
Public consultation, he added, will prevent the waste of government funds. (https://tinyurl.com/tth6u55z0)
According to the city mayor, there needs to be a prioritization of DPWH infrastructure projects in the city, such as addressing the drainage issue first, rather than asphalting.
Proper silting of the city’s river should be made as a maintenance, Cortes also said.
To recall, Mandaue CDRRMO personnel rescued teachers and pupils in Mayor A.S. Fortuna Memorial Elementary School and assisted stranded commuters in the flooded areas after the heavy downpour experienced last Friday.
