City engineer assures safe road conditions for Dinagyang revelers
The Iloilo City District Engineering Office assured that all roads will be ready and safe for the Dinagyang Festival on January 24 to 26.
Throngs of spectators are expected to join Ilonggos in celebrating the annual cultural and religious celebration inspired by the devotion to Señor Sto. Niño or Holy Child Jesus.
District Engineer Rodney Gustilo said that maintenance of city roads was undertaken to ensure safety and smooth flow of traffic.
“Maintenance of our city roads such as application of thermoplastic pavement markings, installation of informational and directional signage, repainting of road lane marking and gutters, de-clogging of drainages, and repainting of center islands are regularly undertaken by our office to ensure smooth flow of traffic especially during the weeklong celebration,” Gustilo also said.
“Our maintenance personnel are continuously deployed to ensure that vital roads in Iloilo City are in good condition and accessible to motorists, both local and foreign tourists, and the general public,” he added.
The official said there is no ongoing road project undertaken by the District within the city proper area, hence tourists are assured that roads are properly-marked, free from potholes and obstructions and are fully accessible to the safety and comfort of the motorists and pedestrians.
