City Council OKs ordinance banning videoke, loud noises
The Iloilo City Council has approved an ordinance banning karaoke and videoke sessions, playing of sound systems and other distracting sounds from Monday to Saturday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The ordinance, authored by Councilor Lady Julie Grace “Love” Baronda, regulates loud noises that hamper online classes and distract learners studying at home.

The passage of the new measure is also in consonance with the Department of Interior and Local Government’s call urging local government units to enact ordinances prohibiting karaoke singing and other “loud” activities.
Last month, Mayor Jerry Treñas issued Executive Order No. 164, which banned videoke machines and activities tending to cause “unnecessary noise” during class hours.
