Paalam Ka Frisco! A war hero, a public servant, a statesman, our President Emeritus of the Nationalist People’s Coalition. I can still vividly remember how you described your experience as a guerilla fighter during WWII even reaching the jungles of Negros. I just came home from PMA and then received the news of your passing at the age of 97 years old. He was a 3rd class cadet at the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class 1944 during the outbreak of the war. He joined the Hunters ROTC Guerillas and rose to become the Chief of Staff or “Supremo” of the guerilla unit until the end of the liberation period. We will miss you, Ka Frisco. Thank you for everything since I joined NPC in 2010. I am honored to have met and worked with a legend 🙏 “Though young in age, San Juan and his comrades were great strategists, effectively shielding the local populance against the Imperial Japanese Army. The enemy feared them, finding one after another of the Hunter raids an embarrasment. For his boldness and gallantry in action during a naval operation in Laguna de Bay, San Juan was awarded the Gold Cross medal, the fourth highest military award of the Philippines.”
