Cebu’s P1.3B resource center project pushes through
Governor Hilario Davide III announced that the 20-storey Capitol Resource Center project of the Cebu provincial government will break ground next week.
The ceremonial groundbreaking of the P1.3-billion center, touted as a flagship project of the Davide administraton, will be held on February 18, The Freeman reported.
Earlier, the project – to be constructed beside the historically declared Cebu Provincial Capitol Building – met with heavy criticism as the structure would have adverse impacts on cultural property.
It is likewise a subject of a lawsuit, claiming questionable bidding process and ineligibility of the contractor.
According to provincial general services officer Jone Sepe, the contractor already posted P38 million performance bond Friday last week.
The authentication of the contract signed by Davide and the WT Construction Inc. executives will follow before the province will serve the “Notice to Proceed” within this week, added Sepe.
