Cebu to distribute 15 vehicles to provincial, district hospitals
The Cebu Provincial Government is scheduled to turn over 15 new public health system vehicles to district hospitals in the province this month.
At present, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) is processing the registration of the vehicles worth P12 million at the Land Transportation Office.
These vehicles will provide logistical support to the activated District Health Offices (DHO), said Dr. Rene Catan, chief of the PHO, in a Freeman article.
“The duty of a hospital is not just to cure but also to inform the public and bring the services to them when possible,” Catan said.
Cebu has four provincial hospitals and 12 district hospitals, each having one DHO.
DHOs handle public health concerns such as statistical monitoring of provincial health-related data and disseminating information on the available services namely, family planning and promotion of the cataract service and kneecap replacement service among others.
