Cebu City to allow contact sports if…
The city government of Cebu may allow contact sports should vaccination reach 70 percent of its target population.
Cebu City Councilor Joel Garganera, also head of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), said their barometer for allowing contact sports is the vaccination percentage.
As of November 15, the city’s vaccination rate is still at 54 percent. (https://bit.ly/3HrYhgY)
Under Alert Level 2, which is the current alert level status of Cebu City, contact sports such as basketball and volleyball are allowed provided that health protocols are observed.
Garganera said the EOC will be meeting again with the Vaccination Operations Center, barangays, the Cebu City Sports Commission, and other concerned parties to come up with the guidelines for the return of contact sports.
For now, the councilor urged those who are eager to play contact sports to encourage others to get vaccinated against Covid-19.
