Cebu City bans poultry products from Luzon
The Cebu City government has also banned the entry of poultry and poultry products from Luzon amid the reported cases of the bird flu virus there.
Earlier, Governor Gwendolyn Garcia issued Executive Order No. (EO) 9, s. 2022, prohibiting the entry into Cebu province all live poultry and or wild birds including day-old chicks, semen, fresh eggs, embryonated eggs, manure, and other poultry products and by-products from Luzon for 45 days beginning March 8.
“We have to be serious with this… We have to ban the entry of these poultry products (from Luzon) for now,” said Mayor Michael Rama. (https://bit.ly/3pQG1Xa)
Rama expressed hope that the cities of Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue will also adopt such measures.
The city’s Department of Veterinary Medicine and Fisheries, has already sent a letter to the Regional Quarantine Office regarding the decision to adopt Garcia’s EO.
