Cebu acquires P1.2M blood-letting van
The Cebu provincial government can now transport blood to medical facilities much faster with its new mobile bloodletting van.
Governor Hilario Davide III and Vice Governor Agnes Magpale led the blessing of the P1.2-million van, the first for the provincial government.
With the van, the provincial government can transport donated blood to various localities and blood centers especially in hard-to-reach areas.
The mobile blood van can accommodate up to eight donors at a time.
Provincial Health Office head Dr. Rene Catan said the bloodletting van will be a big help to patients living far from Cebu City.
With the new van, the provincial government has scheduled its first mobile blood donation drive in Bantayan island this month, in time for its surgical-medical mission.
Presently, the provincial government stores all the collected blood at the Sacred Heart Hospital.
Catan said they expect a similar facility or blood bank at Cebu Provincial Hospital-Danao this year.
