Carcar upgrades medical services, laparoscopy tower is among the latest
Doctors at the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Carcar town can now perform minimally invasive surgical procedures, following the acquisition of a P14.8-million laparoscopy tower and machine.
The Cebu provincial government said the laparoscopy tower and machine, which includes an arthroscope and endoscope, is available for all patients.
“With the newly-acquired medical equipment, procedures like lapasroscopic surgeries, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, and arthroscopy can be made available to all Cebuanos province-wide,” it said (Capitol equips CPH-Carcar with P14.8-M laparoscopy tower).
Dr. Rene Catan of the Provincial Health Office (PHO) said the equipment will complement the skills of the province’s surgical team.
Laparoscopic surgical procedures entail fewer cuts and minimal incisions, so patients experience less post-operative pain and recover more quickly.
“There’s less bleeding, less morbidity,” Catan said.
“Now that we have this capability, we can offer more services not even offered by other hospitals in the island province,” he added.
He added they will “do the same for the other provincial hospitals.”
