Capiz town to build new LGU hall
Demolition work has started on the old two-story town hall of Tapaz in Capiz province, so a new building may be erected in its place.
Mayor Roberto Palomar said the new town hall will be a four-story building costing some P103 million, to be built by a Manila-based contractor.
He said the new building is due for completion by mid-2019.
The demolition stemmed from the recommendation of the Commission on Audit after its engineers inspected the 50-year-old building.
Tapaz, a first-class town, has a population of 51,313 in 58 barangays.
In the meantime, local government offices were transferred to other buildings to ensure that daily transactions of the public will continue.
