Business sector representation in SRA board needs study – Yulo
Negros Occidental Rep. Dino Yulo said the suggestion to include the business sector in the Sugar Regulatory Board needs to be studied.
This after the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) expressed its support for a business sector representation on the SRA board to ensure that the voice of the MSMEs is heard and considered.
The SRA board is made up of representatives from sugar planters and millers, as well as the SRA administrator and the Secretary of Agriculture, who serves as chairman. (https://bit.ly/3C078pl)
Yulo, a former SRA board member, believes that such a proposal benefits ordinary consumers.
Paul Cuyegkeng, chairperson of the PCCI Agriculture Committee, said that the proposal is essential for striking a balance between the needs of farmers, millers, and food manufacturers, the majority of whom are MSMEs.
