BM Salimbangon urges LGUs to support ban on pork, pork products from Luzon
Ex-officio Provincial Board Member Francis Edward Salimbangon has passed a resolution urging all local government units (LGUs) and allied government agencies of Cebu province to support the ban on live hogs and pork-related products from outside sources.
Salimbangon filed the resolution following the reported outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) in the country.
ASF is a serious viral disease of pigs that has no cure or preventive vaccine. (https://www.philstar.com/the-freeman/cebu-news/2019/09/23/1954115/pork-pork-products-luzon-lgus-urged-support-ban#opcuFk1RhjgdZw4O.99)
His reso aims to inform the LGUs of the executive orders Governor Gwendolyn Garcia has issued in line with ASF and to call on the LGUs and agencies to help the province’s ASF task force in ensuring that precautionary measures are met.
“In order to protect the Cebuano consumers and hog raisers, we urge the LGUs and allied government agencies to remain at full guard against ASF and support Governor Gwendolyn Gacia’s EO No 13,13-a,14, and 15,” Salimbangon said.
A copy of the resolution will be forwarded to the LGUs across the province.
