Biron seeks speedy approval of hospital conversion bill
Iloilo Rep. Braeden John Biron (4th district) sought for the speedy approval of his bill converting Don Jose S. Monfort Medical Center (DJSMMC) Extension Hospital in Barotac Nuevo town into a tertiary hospital.
Once enacted into law, House Bill No. 9074, which the House of Representatives approved in May, will also rename the hospital to Don Jose S. Monfort Medical Center.
On September 14, Biron pushed for the approval of the Senate counterpart of the bill during an online hearing of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography. (https://bit.ly/3ElAfm3)
The conversion of DJSMMC is an integral part of his promise to enhance delivery of health services to the 4th district, according to him.
The 100-bed medical facility does not only cater to emergency patients in the 4th district but also those from the 5th district and neighboring towns in the 2nd and 3rd districts.
Biron said the lack of funding and manpower hampers the safety and efficiency of health care delivery.
