Bastos! San Carlos City LGU act vs restaurant with obscene display
San Carlos City in Negros Occidental has received kudos from the Department of Tourism Region 6 for its prompt action on a “rude” restaurant there.
The DOT said it received a complaint against the restaurant from a concerned citizen over allegedly obscene sculptures.
“We are delighted that San Carlos City LGU swiftly took action on the complaint. DOT-6 hopes that this kind of response will inspire other LGUs to do the same so we can address public concerns better. We also encourage everyone to report any tourism-related concerns in the locality so we could immediately respond on the matter and take appropriate action. With the help of everybody, we can have an engaged and more responsive tourism sector in Western Visayas,”said DOT-6 Regional Director Atty. Helen Catalbas.
An initial investigation showed the restaurant was not DOT-accredited, and the DOT endorsed the complaint to San Carlos City local government unit for appropriate action.
The city government sent a letter to the restaurant management, which instantly removed the obscene sculptures.
