Bacolod to send aid to quake-battered Mindanao
The city government of Bacolod will extend financial assistance to quake-hit communities in Southern Philippines.
“We are definitely involved to help,” said Mayor Evelio Leonardia.
Leonardia said the financial aid will come from the budget of the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO).
He also talked with Executive Assistant Joemarie Vargas, cluster head of the CDRRMO, to find out how much the other local government units LGUs had given to Mindanao so they can set a benchmark. (https://bit.ly/34B7tLv)
“It is not necessary to say that we have to follow how much other LGUs gave,” Leonardia said.
The National Risk Reduction and Management Council reported that 21 people died from the last two earthquakes in Mindanao. Over 400 were injured and more than 35,000 displaced.
