The Bacolod Sanggunaing Panlungsod on Wednesday passed a resolution urging the Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD), through the office of Mayor Albee Benitez, to resume the processing of ladderized senior citizen benefits under City Ordinance No. 910, or the Ladderized Cash Incentive Centenarian Award Ordinance.

City Ordinance No. 910 was passed by the SP of Bacolod City on November 6, 2019, to make the centenarian incentive ladderized so that the beneficiaries may be able to enjoy the same before they reach the age of 100, the resolution authored by Councilor Em Legaspi-Ang said.

The ordinance provides for an annual appropriation of P5 million, which was all used up last year, leaving other beneficiaries unable to receive such an incentive, it said. (

According to the resolution, the aforementioned appropriation for the said ordinance is included in the 2023 Annual Budget, and the DSSD, as the implementing agency, may be able to process and disburse such incentive to qualified beneficiaries.

The Sangguniang Panlungsod believes it is necessary to provide such benefits to qualified senior citizen residents under the aforesaid Ordinance, and thus its implementation must be prioritized.
