The Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) approved a resolution urging Mayor Albee Benitez to implement City Ordinance No. (CO) 998, series of 2022 yesterday.

Authored by Councilor Em Ang, the resolution said CO 998, which was passed in June 2022, aims to provide gratuity pay and burial assistance to barangay officials who have served at least one term in any barangay in the city.

This is intended to recognize their efforts in serving their constituents while putting their lives and safety at risk, especially during the global pandemic, said Ang. (https://bit.ly/40jyhO9)

As barangay officials, they are responsible for enforcing laws and ordinances that apply to their respective barangays, as well as maintaining peace and order in their respective premises and jurisdiction, according to the reso.

The councilor said the SP recognizes the need to implement the said ordinance to provide them with the financial aid they deserve for serving their fellow Bacolodnons during extraordinary times.
