Bacolod mayor ready to welcome Espenido back
Despite his present controversy, Police Lt. Col. Jovie Espenido will always have a place in Bacolod City if he is reassigned there, Mayor Evelio Leonardia said.
Leonardia said he was surprised to learn of Espenido’s relief from the Bacolod City Police Office where he served as deputy chief.
“He can come back anytime, he is welcome here in Bacolod,” Leonardia said (https://dailyguardian.com.ph/espenido-is-welcome-to-return-to-bacolod-anytime-mayor/).
The mayor said he last met with Espenido last Feb. 6 to discuss his request for assistance from the city government in the campaign against illegal drugs.
Espenido was assigned to Bacolod City in October 2019 and was relieved on Feb. 5, 2020. He was included in the list of police officials linked to the illegal drug trade.
