Bacolod honors homegrown SEA Games medalists
The Bacolod City Government honored homegrown athletes who have won medals in the ongoing 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.
“We pride ourselves as the city of champions. We have to give them special recognition,” said Mayor Evelio Leonardia.
Leonardia met with Debbie Mahinay, a silver medalist in Breaking B-Girls category of the dancesport event, during her courtesy call on the mayor at the Government Center Friday. (https://bit.ly/2sQXIeE)
Mahinay, who hails from Barangay Bata, was joined by her trainers Brylle Sy and Jake Louwen Benamer.
On December 4, the City Council lauded Mahinay and fellow dancesport medalists from Bacolod, Michael Angelo Marquez and Stephanie Sabalo, for their achievements in the regional games.
“Their amazing efforts in the said events are remarkable and did not only captivate the eyes of the judges and the audience but also bolstered the medal tally of the Philippines at the onset of the competition,” the resolution said.
