Bacolod council OKs World AIDS Day reso
The Bacolod City Council yesterday approved a resolution declaring the observance of World AIDS Day on December 1 and requesting support and participation from all departments and organizations.
The resolution, authored by Councilor Claudio Puentevella, cited data from the World Health Organization that about 34 million people live with AIDS from all ages as of 2010, with 1.8 million reported deaths worldwide.

Every year on December 1, people around the world come together to show support for people living with HIV and to remember those who have died from AIDS-related illnesses, the reso added.
This year’s theme, “Global Solidarity, Shared Responsibility,” joins a growing list of global challenges to which World AIDS Day has alerted people.
